Hurricane Katrina Intercept 1 Chase 2005
South Florida - Ft Lauderdale Beach

This was a close to home chase. Tropical Storm Katrina became
Hurricane Katrina a hour or two before making landfall along the
southeast Florida coast near Ft Lauderdale / Miami area's.

Weathervine chased mostly in Broward County in the Ft Lauderdale
Beach location along A1A. Was quite impressed with how strong the
winds were and the amount of damage taking place. Spent the rest of
the afternoon into the evening hours shooting video and recording
winds speeds as Katrina moved inland over southern Florida.

Katrina then exited the southern Florida mainland and brushed the
Keys. Then Katrina went on to become a very intense hurricane in the
Gulf and making another landfall along the Louisiana and Mississippi
coast. You can
view our second chase with Katrina here.
